Celebrating “best colleges day” at U.S. News & World Report

Mariya Greeley

After graduating from Brandeis University with a bachelor’s in psychology and minors in journalism and creative writing, I began my career in Washington, D.C. by doing a year-long internship at U.S. News & World Report.

I developed my editorial skills reporting for U.S. News' consumer-focused Best Colleges, Best Hospitals, and Best Business Schools guidebooks. I also learned the ins and outs of planning live journalism events, helping develop programming and book speakers for widely attended conferences on health care innovation, STEM education, and the future of the workforce.

My year at U.S. News culminated in a trip to Illinois, during which I visited and wrote profiles of several colleges for prospective students. I left U.S. News for my current position at Boston Globe Media, but I continue to write as a freelancer for the publications team there.

As a copywriter and producer at BGM today, I get to combine my dedication to strong editorial with business savvy while conceptualizing, writing, editing, and producing sponsored content campaigns that align with clients’ branding but are also inherently interesting to the Globe’s audience.

In under two years working on at the Globe, I’ve created over $1 million worth of content, and I’ve written and edited some of the sponsored content team’s strongest performing articles.
